Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Marinara Sauce are subject to this recall:

  • Lidia’s brand Marinara Sauce, sold in 25-ounce glass jars with metal lids with a best-by date code of 06/13/2019 (found on the neck of the jar) and a UPC of 897712001018 (found on back below Nutrition Facts panel).

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after it was discovered that some jars of  Lidia’s Vodka Sauce, which contain Milk, were incorrectly labeled as Lidia’s Marinara Sauce, a product that does not contain Milk. Subsequent investigation showed the issue was caused by the application of incorrect labels during the packaging process and was an isolated incident, limited to an estimated 750 jars.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession these recalled Marinara Sauce and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
