According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 17994A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The recalled cases bear a use-by date of 7/21/2017. These items were shipped to retail locations in Illinois and Massachusetts.
The problem was discovered when the firm was notified of the foreign matter by a retail store. The product contained readily visible, long, thin strands of clear soft plastic from packaging material. Because the plastic is readily visible and identifiable, it is highly unlikely that it would be consumed and, therefore, the health risk is extremely low.
If plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.
==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Shaved Beef, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
If you have any questions about this recall notification, please contact Mr. Leo Bertolino, President at F.B. Packing Co, 1-617-269-6340.
