Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following SoyNut Butter are subject to this recall:

  • I.M. Healthy Original Creamy SoyNut Butter, packaged in 15-ounce plastic jars with the best-by dates July 05, 2018, August 30, 2018 and August 31, 2018;
  • I.M. Healthy Original Creamy SoyNut Butter, packaged in individual portion cups with the a best-by date of August 08, 2018
  • I.M. Healthy Original Creamy SoyNut Butter, packaged in four (4) pound plastic tubs with the best-by dates of July 25, 2018 and November 16, 2018.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, The SoyNut Butter Co. has recalled certain batch/lots of I.M. Healthy Original Creamy SoyNut Butter because they may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O157:H7 bacteria E. Coli O157:H7).

I.M. Healthy Original Creamy SoyNut Butter was distributed into multiple US states and may have been purchased in stores or through mail order. The Butter was also distributed to childcare centers and schools in multiple US states.

The recall was initiated after ill people or their family members answered questions about the foods they ate and other exposures in the week before they became ill. Nine (100%) of the nine people reached for interview reported either eating I.M. Healthy brand SoyNut Butter at home (five people) in the week before they became ill or attending a childcare center that served I.M. Healthy brand SoyNut Butter.

Twelve people infected with the outbreak strain of STEC O157:H7 have been reported from five (5) US states to date.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled SoyNut Butter, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the SoyNut Butter to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
