Canada/Ottawa: Eastern brand Payasam Mix Recall [Canada]Ahaa Foods recalls certain batch/lots of Eastern brand Payasam Mixes due to undeclared Wheat, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Payasam are subject to this recall:

  • Eastern brand Payasam Mix, 200 gram package; affected product codes: all codes where Wheat is not declared on the label; UPC: 8 901440 001034

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled foods can be found on the Web site above.

According to the CFIA, Ahaa Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Eastern brand Payasam Mixes from the marketplace because it contains Wheat, an ingredient not declared on the label. If you have with an allergy to Wheat or sensitivity to gluten, you should not consume the recalled Payasam listed above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Payasam Mixes and could be allergic to their Wheat ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
