The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Biscuit Spread are subject to recall:

  • Lotus Biscoff Crunchy Biscuit Spread, sold in 380 gram jars with the following batch/lots codes and associated best-before dates:
    • Batch code: 7005109 and a best-before date of 5 February 2018
    • Batch code: 7011209 and a best-before date of 11 February 2018
    • Batch code: 7019109 and a best-before date of 19 February 2018
    • Batch code: 7030309 and a best-before date of 28 February 2018
    • Batch code: 7039109 and a best-before date of 8 March 2018
    • Batch code: 7046109 and a best-before date of 15 March 2018
    • Batch code: 7005109 and a best-before date of 5 February 2018
    • Batch code: 7011209 and a best-before date of 11 February 2018
    • Batch code: 7019109 and a best-before date of 19 February 2018
    • Batch code: 7030309 and a best-before date of 28 February 2018
    • Batch code: 7039109 and a best-before date of 8 March 2018
    • Batch code: 7046109 and a best-before date of 15 March 2018

According to the FSA, the Biscuit Spread was recalled from the marketplace because it may contain small pieces of metal.

If plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
