Canada/Ottawa: Transilvania Trading recalls certain batch/lots of Trader Joe’s brand Apple Sauce due to suspected glass fragment contamination, a serious health and safety hazard. CFIA: http://ht.ly/3iv6309qZIb
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Apple Sauce is subject to this recall:
- Trader Joe’s brand Organic Unsweetened Apple Sauce, sold in 680 gram glass jars; affected product codes: all best before dates up to and including October 06, 2018; UPC: 00194877
- Trader Joe’s brand First Crush Unsweetened Gravenstein Apple Sauce, sold in 680 gram glass jars; affected product codes: all best before dates up to and including October 06, 2018; UPC: 00015905

According to the CFIA, Transylvania Trading has recalled certain batch/lots of Trader Joe’s brand Apple Sauce Products from the marketplace due to the potential presence of pieces of glass. You should not consume the recalled products listed above.
If glass fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.
The following products are known to have been sold at Pirate Joe’s, located at 3744 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia. This may not be the only retailer that sold the recalled Apple Sauce.
==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
