According to Health Canada, its inspection program has found the recalled Wood Oil Products do not have proper hazard labelling required by the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001 under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (“CCPSA”).

The products contain drying oils which can undergo spontaneous heating, leading to ignition of the product. The lack of required warnings could lead to improper use of the product and present a flammability hazard leading to serious injury or fire.

Materials used with the product, such as rags, sponges or brushes may spontaneously self-ignite, even with no source of ignition like a spark or flame.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Wood Oil Products, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact Raincoast Alternatives to obtain a compliant label. After applying the product, consumers should place rags or other coated tools in water or lay them flat to dry before disposing of them.

Please note: disposal of this product must be in accordance with local municipal hazardous waste requirements to protect your personal safety, the local drinking water supply and the ecosystem.
