The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cheeses are subject to this recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Dutchmark brand Pasteurized Processed Smoked Gouda Cheese, random weight ~2 pounds, product codes: best when used by:11-18-17; no UPC listed.
  • Great Midwest brand Applewood Smoked Gouda Cheese, random weight ~6 pounds, product codes: sell by May 22 17 G7/1 00:00; no UPC listed.
  • Great Midwest brand Applewood Smoked Gouda Cheese, random weight slices or chunks cut at stores, product codes: deli cut; no UPC listed.

According to the FDA, Saputo Inc. has recalled certain batch/lots of Gouda Cheese Products after having been notified by Deutsch Kase Haus, LLC of Middlebury, Indiana that some specialty Gouda Cheese Products that it supplied to Saputo’s Green Bay, Wisconsin facility may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cheeses, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Cheeses to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
