Belgium/Brussels: The European Union issues Report 6-2017 of its Rapid Alert System containing 30 new consumer, automotive and industrial-based product recalls; a must-read for parents, caregivers, drivers, health and safety workers, company owners, supervisors and others: http://ht.ly/1Ovr308X65t
Among the 30 recalls the European Union has announced in this second report of February 2017, the following notification was made:
Wisad for Baby brand Baby Cots sold with an unknown type/number model designation and with no disclosed SKUs, barcodes, EANs and/or UPCs.
The type of hazards presented in this Infant Cot/Crib include entrapment, injury and strangulation due to failure to provide a sufficient locking system for the Cots’ bars. Due to this apparent defect, children may be able to remove the bars and leave the safety of the Cot.
If a child tries to get out of the Cot when only one of the bars has been removed, there is a risk that his or her head or chest will become stuck between the remaining bars and possibly lead to compression injuries and/or strangulation. In addition, the gap between the ends of the accompanying mattress base and the ends of the recalled Cot also pose a risk of limb entrapment.
Because this defect poses risks of entrapment, injury and strangulation, the Cot/Crib does not comply with the requirements of the relevant European standard, EN 716-1. As such, the Wisad for Baby brand Baby Cots have been ordered recalled from end users and withdrawn from the European marketplace.
