US/Silver Spring: Meijer Stores recalls certain batch/lots of Meijer brand Colby and Meijer brand Colby Jack Deli Cheeses due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination, a serious health hazard. FDA: http://ht.ly/jbyE308W05P

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cheeses are subject to this recall:
- Meijer brand Colby Cheese and Meijer brand Colby Jack Cheese were sold in Meijer stores from November 10, 2016 to February 9, 2017. The recalled Cheeses were packaged in plastic deli wrapping with printed labels that have a UPC of 215927xxxxxx or 215938xxxxxx, where the last 6 digits represented by Xs will vary, and are determined by weight since the product was purchased at the deli counter.
According to the FDA, Meijer received notice of a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination from MDS Foods, a Meijer supplier that sources the Meijer branded cheeses from Deutsch Kase Haus, a cheese manufacturer based in Middlebury, Indiana. MDS Foods informed Meijer that evidence of potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination had been identified by the manufacturer
