The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following foods are subject to this recall:

  • Peony Mark brand Dried Lily Flower, sold in six (6)-ounce (approximately 170 gram) clear, un-coded plastic bags with a UPC of 686529131632.

==> No batch/lot, best-by date or other identification information were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, the recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of undeclared Sulfites in Peony Mark Brand Dried Lily Flower in packages that did not declare Sulfites on the label.

It should be noted that the consumption of ten (10) milligrams of Sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some people with Asthma. Further, Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain Sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of Sulfites.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Dried Lily Flower and could be allergic to its Sulfite ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
