The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Road Bicycles are subject to this recall:

  • Merida Speeder 20-D Bicycles, 700c, flat bar road bikes aimed at recreational riding and commuting audiences. The frame and fork are manufactured from steel and each Bicycle comes equipped with Shimano 24 speed gears and disc brakes.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs, or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Bicycles are pictured on the Web site above.

According to the ACCC, the fork dropout safety tabs may not be sufficient to hold the front wheel in position if the quick release lever is opened while the Bicycle is in use. If this defect occurs, it can cause a loss of control of the Bicycle, posing a risk of serious injury or death to the rider.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Road Bicycles, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact your local Merida retailer to arrange for a full refund, or to have the bicycle inspected and the fork replaced if required.
