US/Silver Spring: FDA Logo BlueMarich Confectionery recalls certain batch/lots of Valentine Chocolate Caramel Hearts due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Almond Nuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Chocolate Caramel Heart Treats are subject to this recall:

  • 4.25-ounce Valentine Chocolate Caramel Hearts, sold with a UPC 797817-44440-9. The lot code being recalled is 0031711 with a best by date of 9/30/17 and can be found on the bottom of each package. The Caramel Hearts was distributed in California, Minnesota and Oklahoma.

According to the FDA, Marich Confectionery has recalled certain batch/lots of its Valentine Chocolate Caramel Hearts because they may, in fact, contain its Triple Chocolate Toffee Product, a confectionery that contains Almond Nuts.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession these recalled Valentine Chocolate Caramel Hearts and could be allergic to their Almond Nut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
