US/Silver Spring: Specialty Commodities, Inc., (“SCI”) a subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland Company (“ADM”) recalls certain batch/lots of Dry Roasted Almonds due to undeclared Cashew Nuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Roasted Almonds are subject to this recall:
- Bulk Dry Roasted Almonds, distributed between December 22, 2016 and January 19, 2017, to three (3) wholesale customers, one of whom redistributed them for sale in either bulk bins or clam shells to retail outlets in California, including Safeway Stores and Nugget Markets.
==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.
According to the FDA, Specialty Commodities has recalled a specific batch/lot of Dry Roasted Almonds because they may contain undeclared Cashew Nuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Cashews run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession these recalled Dry Roasted Almonds and could be allergic to their Cashew ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Dry Roasted Almonds, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Almonds to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
