US/Washington: Willow Tree Poultry Farm recalls certain batch/lots of Whole Foods Market brand Chicken Salads due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Egg, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Prepared Chicken Salads are subject to this recall:
- 6-ounce packages of Whole Foods Market “Chicken Salad” with a sell-by date of 1/24/2017
Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Chicken Salads can be found on the Web site above.
==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.
According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. P-8827” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were sold to a distributor in New Jersey for further distribution in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.
The problem was discovered on January 16, 2017 by the establishment. The recalled Whole Foods Market branded Salads are labeled as “chicken salad” with the appropriate USDA mark of inspection. Due to suspected mislabeling, however, it is actually an Egg Salad product. People with an allergy or intolerance to Egg should not consume this Salad product.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession these recalled Chicken Salads and could be allergic to their Egg ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
