The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Okra Vegetables are subject to this recall:

  • Pictsweet Farms Breaded Okra, sold in 12-ounce bags with batch/lot production codes ranging from 3086B C, 3086B D, 3086B E, 3086B F and 3086B G, a best-before date of November 3, 2018 and a UPC of 0 70560 98377 8

According to the FDA, The Pictsweet Company has recalled certain batch/lots of Pictsweet Farms 12-ounce bags of Breaded Okra after some packages were suspected of containing glass fragments, foreign matter that could cause serious injury if ingested. At press time, there has been one (1) minor injury reported in connection with this issue.

The affected packages of Breaded Okra Vegetables were distributed through retail stores across the United States.

If plastic, metal or glass fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Okra, please do not consume it directly nor use it as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Okra to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
