According to the FDA, Hy-Vee has recalled several Chocolates and Candy Trays because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The recall was initiated after Hy-Vee received notification from Palmer Candy Company, one of its primary suppliers that certain chocolate-based products had been recalled after a secondary supplier, Valley Milk Products LLC, recalled a Milk powder ingredient used in a compound chocolate coating. It is this coating that has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

The Hy-Vee recall includes the above Chocolate and Candy Products produced between October 20, 2016 and December 9, 2016, and shipped by Palmer Candy Company to grocery, convenience store and wholesale customers US nationwide for repackaging.

The recalled Chocolate and Candy Products were also distributed to all of Hy-Vee’s 242 grocery stores across its eight-state region of Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The products were packaged a plastic containers with clear lids with sell-by dates ranging from January 26, 2017 to February 23, 2017. The sell-by date can be found at the top of the product label.
