Canada/Ottawa: Vanworld Glutinous Rice Ball Recall [Canada]Vanworld International Investment (Canada) Ltd. recalls certain batch/lots of Glutinous Rice Balls (Black Sesame Filling) due to undeclared Peanut, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Rice Balls are subject to this recall:

  • Vanworld brand Glutinous Rice Balls (Black Sesame Filling), sold in 400 gram bags with a product code of 01 06 2018 and a UPC of 6 66872 76009 3

According to the CFIA, Vanworld International Investment (Canada) Ltd. has recalled certain batch/lots of its Vanworld brand Glutinous Rice Balls (Black Sesame Filling) from the marketplace because this food may contain Peanuts, an ingredient not declared on the label. People with an allergy to Peanuts should not consume the recalled product listed above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Rice Balls and could be allergic to their Peanut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
