The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Plug Adaptor Inserts are subject to this recall:

  • Detachable AC Australian Phonak & Unitron Plug Adaptor Inserts provided with Switch mode Power Supply – Input 110 to 240 AC 50/60 Hz 0.2A, Output: 3-24V DC 0.01-1.2A

Product output voltage labelled according to use GPE053h – Vxxxyyy-4. “h” – A denotes output – DC connector cord with DC connector or B for USB port.

  • “xxx” denotes output voltage (either 030-240) for 3.0 to 24vDC in steps of 0.1v
  • “yyy” denotes output current (001-120 for 0.01-1.20A in steps of 0.01A

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to a risk there of the Adaptor Faceplate being dislodged resulting in the internal electrical wiring and components being exposed. If this occurs, there is a risk of electrical shock to those using the product.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Plug Adaptor Inserts, please do not use them. Instead, if you have been supplied with a Power Supply with the Affected Plug Adaptor between 1 October 2011 and 31 July 2014, please contact Sonova Australia Pty Ltd for a replacement unit.
