The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Hash Browns are subject to this recall:

  • Birds Eye Golden Crunch Hash Browns, sold in 800 gram bags with a best-before date of 1 July 2018 and a batch code of 26 168 09

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs, or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to the presence of small blue plastic pieces in the Hash Browns.

If plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.
