The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Tarts/Baked Goods are subject to this recall, in alphabetical order:

  • Tart Fresh Fruit Amero Shell, Large; UPC: 24984100000
  • Tart Fruit 4 inches; UPC: 24985200000
  • Tart Key Lime 4 inches; UPC: 23144500000
  • Tart Key Lime 4 inches; UPC: 24989600000
  • Tart Key Lime 9 inches; UPC: 24988900000
  • Tart Lemon Large 8 inches; UPC: 24991000000

According to the FDA, certain Whole Foods Market stores in Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and the District of Columbia (i.e., Washington, DC) have recalled certain Tarts because these baked goods contain Tree Nut (specifically, Almond Flour) allergens that were not listed on the product labels. If you have an allergy or sensitivity to Tree Nut (Almond Flour), you should not consume any of these products.

The Tarts/Baked Goods include Chocolate Ganache, French Apple, Fresh Berry, Fresh Fruit Amero Shell, Fruit, Key Lime, Lemon, and Peanut Butter Chocolate. The products were packaged in cardboard containers with Whole Foods Market labels and best-by dates of January 7, 2017 and earlier

Please note: not all Tarts/Baked Goods were sold in all stores.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Tarts and could be allergic to their Almond ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
