The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Traditional Chinese Medicines are subject to this recall:

  • Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang (Tuhuo and Loranthus Combination)
  • Chuan Xiong Cha Tiao San (Ligusticum and Tea Formula)
  • Dang Gui Si Ni Tang (Tangkuei and Jujube Combination)

According to the ACCC, the Supplements contain Asarum species, which have been documented to contain Aristolochic Acids. Asarum species containing Aristolochic Acid(s) for human therapeutic use are included in Schedule 10 of Australia’s Poisons Standard and are not permitted for use in therapeutic goods in this country. Aristolochic Acids have been linked to kidney problems and Urinary Tract Cancers.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or supplement contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food or supplement, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure pets and small children can’t access the suspect product.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Supplement, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store or outlet where you purchased it for a full refund.
