Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Meatballs are subject to this recall:

  • Nick’s Fully Cooked Italian Style Meatballs, sold in five (5)-pound clear plastic pouches

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the USDA, the Italian Style Meatballs subject to recall do not bear a USDA mark of inspection; this is not required for product sold at retail that is labeled under the retail exemption. Other typical identification markings, including best-before or use-by dates or processing or repackaging dates are also absent from the product labels. The product was sold in retail locations in Maryland.

The problem was discovered when Nick’s of Calvert returned product to the official FSIS establishment that produced and originally packaged and labeled the product, where it was presented for re-inspection. The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) personnel observed the Meatballs no longer contained the original label applied by the official FSIS establishment and that the new ingredient statement failed to declare the presence of Eggs and Milk.

==> For information about Egg Allergy, Milk Allergy or Lactose Intolerance, please consult the “Allergens & Intolerances” tab at the top of this page.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession these recalled Meatballs and could be allergic to their ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure pets and small children can’t access the suspect food.

If you have any questions about this recall notification, please contact Mr. Nick Ferrante III, Sales Manager, at 1-410-414-7105.
