Canada/Ottawa: L’Atelier Cheval de Bois recalls an estimated 1,669 Three Ring Wood Baby Rattles due to choking and suffocation hazards. HCSC: http://ht.ly/ewn2306xFHM
Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports this recall involves certain batch/lots of Three Ring Wood Baby Natural Wood Rattles measuring approximately 9.5 centimetres (roughly 3.75 inches) in length.
The recalled Baby Rattles are composed of a wooden dowel with a ball at each end, and three circular rings in the middle.
Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s packaging, design and retail presentation.
According to Health Canada, its sampling and evaluation program has determined these Baby Rattles do not meet the Canadian safety requirements for this type of product. Because of the Rattle’s shape and size, it can become lodged in a child’s throat, posing a suffocation hazard. The Rattle can also break and detach small parts, posing a choking hazard to young children.
Neither Health Canada nor L’Atelier Cheval de Bois has received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these rattles in Canada.
If plastic or wood fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.
If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Baby Rattles, please do not let your child use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
