The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Nasal Sprays are subject to this recall:

  • Metagenics Nasoclear Nasal Spray, batch 80789, expiry date May 2018. AUST L 166858. The recalled complementary medicine product that contains a saline solution scented with essential oils with a batch number of 80789 and an expiry date of May 2018.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs, or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, some products from the affected batch may contain a pathogenic organism, Staphylococcus aureus, commonly known as “Golden Staph” in Australia.

Golden Staph is commonly carried on the skin or in the nose of healthy people. However, particularly in children, the elderly or immuno-compromised people, it can cause infections. Health risks associated with this issue are varied, from no symptoms to skin infections, or, in the most severe cases, life-threatening infections such as Pneumonia, Meningitis or blood-stream infections.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food or drug, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure pets and small children can’t access the suspect product.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Nasal Sprays, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
