US/Silver Spring: Blue Bell Ice Cream Recall [US]Blue Bell Ice Cream expands its existing recall for various batch/lots of Blue Bell Ice Cream due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination, a serious health hazard. FDA:

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Ice Cream are subject to this recall:

  • This recall includes the following products in half-gallons and pints, sold to retail outlets:
    • Blue Bell brand Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
    • Blue Bell brand Cookie Two Step
  • Three-gallon flavors sold to food service accounts including the following:
    • Blue Bell brand Blue Monster
    • Blue Bell brand Chocolate Chip Cookie
    • Blue Bell brand Krazy Kookie Dough

All of the recalled Ice Cream products were produced from February 2, 2016 through September 7, 2016.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, the recalled Blue Bell Ice Cream produced with the cookie dough pieces from third-party supplier Aspen Hills and sold both through consumer and food service channels were distributed in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Ice Cream, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Ice Cream to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure pets and small children can’t access the suspect food.
