US/Silver Spring: Café Valley Mini Muffin Recall [US]Café Valley Inc. recalls an estimated 543 cases of Lemon Poppy Seed Mini Muffins due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared walnuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Mini Muffins are subject to this recall

  • Lemon Poppy Seed Mini Muffins, with a date code of 160803 ink-jet printed on top near the label. Although labeled as Lemon Poppy Seed Mini Muffins, the actual contents are Banana Nut Mini Muffins.

According to the FDA, Café Valley has recalled an estimated 543 cases of Banana Nut Mini Muffins mislabeled as Lemon Poppy Seed Mini Muffins, because they may contain undeclared Walnuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Walnuts risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these Muffins.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession these recalled Muffins and could be allergic to their Walnut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure pets and small children can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Muffins, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Muffins to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
