The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Apple Coffee Cakes are subject to this recall:

  • Publix Super Markets branded Apple Coffee Cakes, sold at Publix bakery departments in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and the following counties in Florida: Alachua, Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, DeSoto, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota. The Coffee Cakes were sold with a UPC of 002-19562-00000 and includes all date codes.

According to the FDA, Publix Super Markets has recalled all current batch/lots of Apple Coffee Cakes due to the possible presence of small metal shavings/fragments.

If plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Coffee Cakes, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Coffee Cakes to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
