The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Ground Beef is subject to this recall:

  • 10-pound (4.54 kilogram) chubs containing Hill Country Fare Ground Beef 73% Lean/27% Fat with a packed-on date of 7/26/2016, a use-by date of 8/15/2016, and bearing case code number 00090180.
  • 5-pound (2.27 kilogram) chubs containing Hill Country Fare Ground Beef 73% Lean/27% Fat with a packed-on date of 7/26/2016, a use-by date of 8/15/2016, and bearing case code number 00090150.
  • 3-pound (1.37 kilogram) chubs containing Hill Country Fare Ground Beef 73% Lean/27% Fat with a packed-on date of 7/26/2016, use-by date of 8/15/2016, and bearing case code number 00090170.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 337” inside the USDA mark of inspection or on the product packaging seam. These items were shipped to three H-E-H-E-BB Grocery distribution centers in Texas.

The problem was discovered when the establishment was notified of a consumer’s complaint of a small piece of metal in their purchased product.

If metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Ground Beef, please do not consume it directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
