Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports this recall involves certain batch/lots of MasterCraft Work Platforms.

The recalled work product measures approximately 51 centimetres (~20 inches) tall with a 30 by 91 (~12″ by 36″) centimetre non-slip work surface/deck and a 113 kg (~250 pound) weight capacity. The platform doubles as a sawhorse or seating bench. The batch number can be found laser engraved on one of the four legs. The following batch/lots are affected by this recall:

  • MasterCraft Work Platform, product number: 061-1015; batch numbers: 20213-xxx, 30213-xxx, 40213-xxx, 50213-xxx, 60213-xxx

Please consult the photograph above for details of the product’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Work Platform is pictured on the Web site above.

According to Health Canada, the bolts on the product may break, causing the recalled Work Platform to collapse. This poses consequential fall and injury hazards to the operator or to those nearby.

Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these platforms. Canadian Tire, however, has received three (3) reports of a broken bolt, causing the platform to collapse. No injuries have been reported.

An estimated 95,918 units were sold in Canadian Tire stores across Canada from 2013 to 2016, although this number includes batches not currently affected by this recall.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Work Platforms, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
