The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Herring Salads are subject to this recall (in alphabetical order):

According to the FDA, SM Fish Corp. of Far Rockaway, NY, has recalled certain batch/lots of Ossie’s Ready To Eat Herring Salads because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recalled Herring Salads were sold at the firm’s eight (8) retail outlets located in New York and New Jersey.

The recalled products were packed in plastic deli containers with their respective UPC and best-by date codes of 7/21/16 through 08/20/16 (located on the bottom of the tub).

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure pets and small children can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Herring Salads, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Herring to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
