The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cheeses are subject to this recall:

  • Burrata Cheese
  • Calvander Cheese
  • Carolina Moon Cheese
  • Dairyland Farmers Cheese
  • Danziger Cheese
  • Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
  • Hickory Grove Cheese
  • Hot Farmers Cheese
  • New Moon Cheese
  • Paneer Cheese
  • Pheta Cheese
  • Quark Cheese
  • Smoked Farmers Cheese
  • Smoked Mozzarella Cheese
  • Swiss Cheese

According to the FDA, health officials have identified recent cases of Salmonella infection in people who consumed Chapel Hill Creamery products. A matching strain of Salmonella has been identified in the milk from the creamery that was used during preparation of the Cheese products.

The products involved in the voluntary recall include all codes, packages and sizes of the following varieties of cheese manufactured by Chapel Hill Creamery and distributed through retail locations, Farmer’s Markets or restaurants throughout North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Chapel Hill Creamery Cheese, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Chapel Hill Creamery Cheese to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
