The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves three (3) varieties of Liquid Plumr Clog Remover products, sold in 17-ounce bottles standing approximately 9 inches tall. Each bottle has the “Liquid Plumr” logo and the name of the specific product printed on the front. Liquid Plumr products included in the recall are as follows:

  • Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Foaming Clog Fighter, formerly marketed as Slow Flow Fighter, sold in orange bottles with red caps and a UPC of 44600-00214
  • Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Urgent Clear, sold in blue bottles with red caps and a UPC of 44600-30548
  • Liquid Plumr Industrial Strength Urgent Clear, sold in black bottles with red caps and a UPC of 44600-31484

According to the CPSC, the recalled Liquid Plumr branded Cleaning Products are not child-resistant and children can therefore, remove the bottle lid, exposing the corrosive fluid to children and thereby posing a risk of chemical burns and irritation to the skin and eyes. These products contain sodium hydroxide, a substance that is required by the US Poison Prevention Packaging Act to be sealed with child-resistant packaging to prevent injury and/or death.

The Clorox Company has received eight (8) reports of the child-resistant bottle caps not working as intended and 221 reports of the bottles leaking. No injuries have been reported.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Liquid Plumr branded Cleaning Products, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Please note: disposal of this product must be in accordance with local municipal hazardous waste requirements to protect the drinking water supply and the ecosystem. Do not pour the bottle contents down the sink or toilet!
