The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Powerboards are subject to this recall:

  • Connexia Branded 8- and 4-Socket Surge Protected Powerboard with two (2) USB Ports – white and black, specifically:
    • CONNEXIA55021 (white) marked with date stamp 04/15
    • CONNEXIA55023 (black) marked with date stamp 04/15
    • CONNEXIA55017 (white) marked with date stamp 0815

According to the ACCC, during use, there is a risk the Powerboard unit can overheat resulting in the outer casing melting and insulation break down. If this defect occurs, it poses fire and electric shock hazards to those nearby and to property.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Powerboards, please do not use them. Instead, kindly stop using the Powerboard immediately, unplug all the equipment from the unit, switch off the power at the socket outlet then unplug the Powerboard itself. Registered owners will be contacted directly via e-mail and provided details on the correct disposal of the affected products and will be refunded directly by the retailer.

==> Always use appropriate personal protective equipment (“PPE”) when working with electrical fixtures, including gloves and protective eye ware. Ensure all circuits are turned off at the panel before working with any electrical appliance or lighting fixture.
