According to the FDA, General Mills has expanded its existing recall of Gold Medal flour, Wondra flour and Signature Kitchens Baking Flour to include Flour made earlier in the Autumn of 2015 that may still be in consumers’ pantries due to suspected E. coli O121 contamination. The recall was expanded due to a newly reported illness that appears to have stemmed from the consumption of raw dough or batter linked to Baking Flour produced last fall.

Guidance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (“CDC”) continues to warn that consumers should refrain from consuming any raw products made with flour. E. coli O121 is eliminated by heat through baking, frying, sautéing or boiling products made with flour but all surfaces, hands and utensils should be thoroughly cleaned after contact with recalled Baking Flour or its Dough.

==> For information about E. Coli Poisoning, please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Baking Flour, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Flour to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
