US/Silver Spring: Giant Eagle Bulk Sunflower Seed Recall [US]Giant Eagle expands its existing recall for certain batch/lots of Sunflower Seeds sold in the bulk sections of an additional three central Ohio Market District stores due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination, a serious health hazard. The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Sunflower Seeds are subject to this recall:

  • Sunflower Seeds sold in the bulk section of three central Ohio Market District stores including in the bulk sections of the Kingdale, Dublin and Grandview Yard Market District locations with a PLU of 65167.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Sunflower Seeds is pictured on the Web site above.

According to the FDA, the recalled Sunflower Seeds were available for purchase at the above locations both loose within the bulk bin through June 1, 2016, and in pre-packaged containers with sell by dates through December 1, 2016. The affected loose product was also sold from the Meadville Giant Eagle.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Sunflower Seeds, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Seeds to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
