The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Sunflower-based Snacks are subject to this recall:

  • Alpine Tub of Roasted & Salted Sunflower Kernels sold in 10.25-ounce packages with a best-by date code of 03-24-17
  • Alpine Tub of Roasted & Unsalted Sunflower Kernels sold in 10.25-ounce packages with a best-by date code of 3-23-17, 3-30-17, 5-3-17
  • Alpine Valley Fitness Mix sold in 15-pound containers with lot code BD 161021
  • Alpine Valley Sunshine Cranberry Delight sold in 15-pound containers with lot code BD 161021 and BD 161261
  • Alpine Valley Yogurt Fruit/Nut Mix with lot code BD 161261
  • Flave Fitness Mix sold in 8-ounce packages with best-by date codes of 4-20-17 and 05-02-17
  • Flave Oriental Mix sold in 6-ounce packages with best-by date codes of 3-10-17 and 4-21-17
  • Flave Sunflower Seeds sold in 7.5-ounce packages with a best-by date code of 4-20-1
  • Flave Tropical Trail Mix sold in 8-ounce packages with a best-by date code of 4-20-17
  • Gonzo 2 Go of Fitness Mix sold in 5-ounce packages with a best-by date code of 1-7-17
  • Gonzo 2 Go of Sunshine Cranberry Delight sold in 4.5-ounce packages with a best-by date code of 2-10-17
  • Stewarts Sunshine Cranberry Delite sold in 5-ounce packages with a best-by date code of 1-18-17
  • Tops brand square tub of Roasted & Salted Sunflower Kernels sold in 10.25 with a best-by date code of 1-28-17
  • Tops brand square tub of Roasted & Unsalted Sunflower Kernels 10.25 with a best-by date codes of 3-30-17 and 5-3-17
  • Wegmans square tub of Fitness Mix sold in 20-ounce packages with a best-by date code of 12-24-16
  • Wegmans square tub of Sunshine Cranberry Delight sold in 20-ounce packages with a best-by date codes of 12/15/16, 1-7-17 and 2-9-17

According to the FDA, First Source’s supplier, SunOpta, has announced it has recalled specific lots of Sunflower Kernels due to the potential for Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled Sunflower Kernels may be contained in the Mixes and Snacks list above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Snacks, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Snacks to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.
