Canada/Ottawa: Costco Organic by Nature Sweet Pea Recall Update [Canada]Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. updates its existing recall for certain batch/lots of Organic by Nature brand frozen Organic Sweet Peas to include additional information. Both this and the original notifications were initiated after Costco’s Organic by Nature brand Sweet Peas were recalled due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination, a serious health hazard. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Sweet Peas are subject to this recall:

  • Organic by Nature brand Sweet Peas – Organic (frozen), 2.5 kilogram green on white plastic pouch with best-by dates of 04.26.16 to 04.26.18, inclusively and a UPC of 8 46355 00061 9, Please note, this notification widens the date range in which the recalled Sweet Peas are suspect.

According to the CFIA, Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. has recalled certain Organic by Nature brand Frozen Organic Sweet Peas from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled Frozen Sweet Peas were sold by Costco warehouse locations in British Colombia, Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Frozen Sweet Peas, please do not consume them or use them as an ingredient in the preparation of another foodstuff. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Please note: after the release of the original recall notification, this recall was subsequently expanded to include additional Frozen Vegetables produced by the same manufacturer, CRF Frozen Foods, and sold by Costco Wholesale in Canada. These recalled are part of a much larger recall of Frozen Fruits and Vegetables from another jurisdiction, specifically the United States in which CRF Frozen Foods has now recalled 358 separate frozen fruit and vegetable products sold under 42 separate brands.
