The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Salads are subject to this recall:

  • Ghiringhelli Broccoli Slaw & Kale Salad with White Chicken Meat, sold in 9.3-ounce clear plastic container packages with the label “Trader Joe’s Broccoli Slaw & Kale Salad with White Chicken Meat; Sunflower Seeds, Cranberries and a sweet & Spicy Vinaigrette.”

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. Additional images of the recalled Salads are pictured on the Web site above. The Salad subject to recall bear establishment number “P-17156” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to Trader Joe’s distributors in Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah.

According to the USDA, the Salads were caused by a discovery on May 3, 2016, when the company’s vendor of sunflower seeds notified the company the product might have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. According to the recalling firm, all affected product has been removed from the market channels. The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) will verify removal through recall effectiveness checks.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Salads, please do not use or consume it. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
