Canada/Ottawa: Yamada Imitation Seafood Recall [Canada]Tokyo Y2K Import Export Canada Inc. recalls certain batch/lots of Yamada brand Frozen Imitation Seafood Products due to possible mislabeling and undeclared egg, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Imitation Seafood Products are subject to this recall:

  • Yamada brand Frozen Imitation Breaded Scallop, 454 gram package; product codes: BB 26JULY2016; UPC: 8 854241 004448
  • Yamada brand Imitation Crab Meat Shredded, one (1) kilogram package; product codes: BB 20APR2016 and BB 03SEP2017; UPC: 8 854241 00472 1
  • Yamada brand Frozen Fish Tofu, 10 kilogram package, 2 by 5 kilogram package; product codes: BB 19AUG2016; UPC: none listed for this product

According to the CFIA, Tokyo Y2K Import Export Canada Inc. has recalled certain batch/lots Yamada brand frozen Imitation Seafood Products from the marketplace because they contain egg, an ingredient not declared on the product label. People with an allergy to egg should not consume the recalled products listed above.
