The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Herring is subject to this recall:

The affected Norven herring in oil is packaged in plastic containers (tubs):

The affected Norven Herring in Oil is packaged in plastic containers (tubs):

  • Net weight of 17.6 ounce (500 grams) packages; a lot number of 530611, a best-before date of 10/27/16 (stamped on bottom label) and a UPC of 856687004196.
  • Net weight of 10.6 ounces (300 grams packages); a lot number of 530611; a best-before date of 10/27/16 (stamped on bottom label) and a UPC of 856687004189

According to the FDA, the recall is the result of sampling and testing by the US. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the 17.6 ounce (500 gram) packages of Norven Herring in oil, Lot # 530611. The distribution of the product has been suspended while FDA and the company continue to investigate the source of the problem.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Herring, please do not consume it. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
