The UK Chartered Trading Standards Institute (“CTSI”) reports the following Oatibix Flakes are subject to this recall:

  • Weetabix brand Oatibix Flakes; barcode: 5010029208610; best-before dates and product codes as follows:
    • 18/01/2017 6018
    • 19/01/2017 6019
    • 20/01/2017 6020
    • 21/01/2017 6021

According to the CTSI, Weetabix Food Company has recalled certain 550 gram boxes of Weetabix brand Oatibix Flakes because the cereal may contain small pieces of blue soft rubber. Weetabix is advising customers who have already bought a box from these listed recalled batch numbers to dispose of the product and contact Weetabix for a refund.

If you opt for this choice, Weetabix has requested customers send a photograph of the product’s best-before date to the company by e-mail to consumerservice@weetabix.com or post the strip from the top of the packet (showing the barcode and best-before date codes) to the following address:

If rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal. If aspirated, foreign objects can cause choking or otherwise impair breathing, possibly with life changing consequences.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cereal, please do not consume it. Instead, in addition to contacting the manufacturer as outlined above, you can return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
