The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain under-odorized Liquid Propane (“LP”) Gas delivered to consumers for use in storage tanks or sold at retail locations for use in portable refillable tanks (for use in recreational vehicles, barbeques, stoves and other appliances). The recalled LP was also sold to businesses for commercial and industrial use.

According to the CPSC, the recalled Propane Gas does not have sufficient levels of odorant to help alert consumers of a gas leak. Failure to detect leaking gas can present fire, explosion and thermal burn hazards.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Liquid Propane Gas, please do not use it nor try to test the Gas yourself. Instead, please contact the retailer, supplier or Crescent Point Energy hotline immediately to arrange for an Gas inspection.

If the inspection confirms that the suspect LP Gas contains insufficient odorant, Crescent Point Energy will either arrange for appropriate odorization or provide a replacement portable tank. Everyone who uses LP Gas should have carbon monoxide alarms in their homes or other buildings that utilize gas.

==> If you do smell even a faint odor of gas or a gas leak, you should immediately leave the building and call 9-1-1 or your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone. Do not light a match, turn on a light or switch on anything electrical that could possible generate a spark, open flame or static electricity.
