Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Breville 6-quart capacity domestic programmable Electric Pressure Cookers with a brushed stainless steel construction and a 3-way safety system.

The Cooker’s safety system consists of a locking lid, safety valve and a pressure release button. Pressure Cookers with a model number of BPR600XL and batch numbers between “1235” and “1529” are included in the recall. The model number and batch code are located on the bottom of the Pressure Cookers.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the Pressure Cooker’s design and retail presentation.

According to the CPSC, the sealing gasket can be incorrectly inserted upside down on the lid. This can create a hazardous situation in which an unexpected release of built-up pressure in the form of hot water and/or steam can occur. This, in turn, poses a risk of burns and/or scalds to the cook or those nearby to the Cooker.

Breville USA has received five (5) reports of steam or hot contents escaping from the Pressure Cooker, resulting in five (5) reports of burns, including second degree burns to the hands, arms or stomach.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Pressure Cookers, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact Breville for a replacement sealing gasket and updated instructions.
