The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves the following model year 2015 Snowmobiles: 600 Rush Pro-S, 600 Rush Pro-X, 600 Switchback Pro-S, 600 Switchback Pro-X, 600 Switchback Adventure, 800 Rush Pro-S, 800 Rush Pro-X, 800 Switchback Pro-S, 800 Switchback Pro-X, 550 Indy Voyageur 155 and 550 Indy Adventure 155.

  • The 2015 600 / 800 AXYS Rush and Switchback Snowmobiles were solid in black, red/ white, and silver / black color schemes. The AXYS Rush and Switchback Snowmobiles have either “600” or “800” decal on the hood along with the brands, “Rush” or “Switchback” on the rear of the left and right sides of the rear suspension tunnel.
  • The 550 INDY Adventure and Voyageur Snowmobiles were sold in red or blue and have either the brand, “Adventure” or “Voyageur” decals on the left and right engine compartment side panels. The model names and numbers included in the recall are listed below:

  • 600 Rush Pro-S; model numbers: S15DP6PS / SA / SL
  • 600 Rush Pro-X; model number: S15DF6PEL
  • 600 Switchback Pro-S; model numbers: S15DS6PS / SA / SL
  • 600 Switchback Pro-X; model number: S15DR6PEL
  • 600 Switchback Adventure; model number: S15DA6PSL / SM and S15DA6PEL
  • 800 Rush Pro-S; model numbers: S15DP8PS / SA / SL
  • 800 Rush Pro-X; model number: S15DF8PS, S15DF8PEL
  • 800 Switchback Pro-S; model numbers: S15DS8PS / SA / SL
  • 800 Switchback Pro-X; model numbers: S15DR8PS / EL
  • 550 Indy Voyageur 155; model numbers: S15CU5BSL / EL
  • 550 Indy Adventure 155; model numbers: S15CJ5BSL / EL

The model and VIN are displayed on the right side of the tunnel. A complete list of the recalled vehicles including the VIN numbers are available at http://www.polaris.com.

According to the CPSC, the Snowmobile’s steering pitman arm or drag link can crack and result in a loss of steering, posing a crash hazard. Polaris has received 11 reports of cracked or broken steering pitman arms of which eight (8) of the 11 reported loss of steering and three (3) of the 11 reported a crash. One (1)  injury has been reported. The injured customer did not provide any details as to the extent of the injuries.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Snowmobiles, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact your local Polaris dealer to schedule a free repair. Polaris is also contacting registered customers directly and will send a recall letter to each registered owner.
