Australia/Canberra: Big W Abode Electric Blanket Recall [Australia]Big W (Woolworths Limited) re-announces its original recall for certain Abode Electric Blankets due to electrical short circuit, overheating and fire hazards. ACCC:

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Blankets are subject to this recall:

  • Abode Electric Blanket Single, model BA111, keycode: 7089466
  • Abode Electric Blanket Single Fitted, model BA211, keycode 7089527
  • Abode Electric Blanket Double/Queen, model BA212, keycode 7089619

Please consult the photograph above for details of the Blanket’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the ACCC, the control cord may fatigue and cause an internal short circuit or overheating issue. Based on these defects, the recalled Blankets pose a fire hazard.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Electric Blankets, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
