The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Ceiling Fans are subject to this recall:

  • Trinidad Ceiling Fan with LED Lighting, with Mercator model numbers as marked on the fan motor housing:
    • FC428133BK
    • FC428133WH
    • FC428133WW

Please consult the photograph above for details of the Ceiling Fan’s design and retail presentation.

According to the ACCC, if the diffuser/lamp cover is removed from the Ceiling Fan, access to live parts is possible when the unit is turned on. If this happens, there is a risk of electric shock.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Ceiling Fans, please do not use them. Instead, owners should not remove the lamp cover. There is no need to remove the Fan from the ceiling.

Consumers should register their Ceiling Fan with the Mercator warranty department which will arrange for the installation of a safety cover by a qualified electrician at no cost to the consumer.
