The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports this Flood Tile & Laminate Paint brand Brush Cleaner & Thinner is for use clean-up (including of paint brushes) following use of tile and laminate paint, and for thinning that type of paint.

The active ingredients in the recalled Brush Cleaner & Thinner are a solvent, naphtha (petroleum), and 1,2,4- Trimethylbenzene. The product is supplied in a cylindrical shaped tin 500 mL and 1 L container. All batches are being recalled. The bar codes for the products are 9314177241212 (for the 500 mL container) and 9314177241229 (for the 1 L deal container)

According to the ACCC, the child-proof cap may not be adequately secure and, in some cases, may be openable by a child. If this product is not stored out of reach of children as directed, young children may be able to open the container and come into contact with or consume its contents, which are poisonous and corrosive.

Contact with the contents may result in injury or irritation to the skin and eyes, and to mucous membranes, respiratory tract and lungs in case of inhalation. Ingestion of the contents may result in poisoning injury or even death.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Brush Cleaner & Thinner, please do not use them or store the containers near children or within their reach. Instead, kindly handle the product in accordance with the safety instructions on the tin, and either use all of the contents immediately, or secure the lid as tightly as possible, put it in two layers of securely closed plastic bags, and return it to the place of purchase for a refund. In case of any contact with the contents, follow the first aid instructions on the container carefully.

Disposal of this product must be in accordance with local municipal hazardous waste requirements to protect the drinking water supply and the ecosystem. Do not pour the contents into any drain, sewer  or watercourse.

Always use appropriate personal protective equipment (“PPE”) when working with corrosive chemicals, including gloves and protective eye ware. Ensure your eyes, lungs and skin are adequately protected at all times before working with this product.
