The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Spices and Seasonings are subject to this recall:

  • Kroger Ground Cinnamon, 18.3 ounce container; product codes: sell-by date: May 19 18PS4; UPC: 1111070034
  • Kroger Garlic Powder, 24.7 ounce container; product codes: sell-by date: May 18 17PS4; UPC: 1111070039
  • Kroger Coarse Ground Black Pepper, 17.1 ounce container; product codes: sell-by date: May 18 18PS4 and May 19 18PS4; UPC: 1111070041
  • Kroger Bac’n Buds, 12.0 ounce container; product codes: sell-by date: May 20 18PS4; UPC: 1111070025

According to the FDA, a sample of Kroger Garlic Powder from a store in North Augusta, South Carolina was tested by the FDA and found to be contaminated with Salmonella. To date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with these products. Out of an abundance of caution, however, the company has recalled all four (4) seasonings produced on the same equipment in the same facility.

Stores under the following names in the 31 states where Kroger operates are included in this recall: Kroger, Ralphs, Food 4 Less, Foods Co., Fred Meyer, Fry’s, King Soopers, City Market, Smith’s, Dillons, Baker’s, Gerbes, Jay C, Ruler Foods, Pay Less, Owen’s, and Scott’s.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Spices or Seasonings, please do not consume them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
