US/Silver Spring: CocoNoNut Cacao-Nectar Bar Recall [US]Nectar Foods recalls an estimated 300 CocoNoNut Cacao-Nectar Bars due to undeclared almond nuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention. The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cacao-Nectar Bars are subject to this recall:

  • CocoNoNut Cacao-Nectar Bars, sold with an orange label with an orange cardboard display box in the refrigerated grab-and-go pastry and deli sections of grocery stores. The product is sold under the Honey Mama’s brand name with a net weight of 2.5 ounces (approximately 70.8 grams), an expiration date code (listed on back of package) of 121815 and a UPC of 8 54835 00406 7.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. An additional design of the recalled foods is pictured on the Web site above.

According to the FDA, a recall was initiated after a customer discovered some Cacao-Nectar Bars contained almond nuts but were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of these almonds.

Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
